A valuable
element in the effort to produce vital,
natural-looking restorations lies in the use of
opalescent porcelain. The combination of translucent
enamel porcelain, warm internal effects and subtle
characterizations yields a truly esthetically pleasing
and natural result. |

The
metal substructure receives a layer of opaque that
has a stippled surface. Then the porcelain is
applied, being layered with opalescent
material. |

After
the porcelain is contoured and glazed, and
inserted, light will penetrate the enamel and
dentin porcelain layers and refract off the
stippled opaque, bouncing the light back out of
the crown in many different directions. This
multifaceted dispersion of light gives the
restoration vitality and beauty as the refracted
light is absorbed by the eye. |
